I decided after about a year that I actually really preferred the simplicity of the old theme. Of course, all of that’s irrelevant if I don’t actually start posting more, so maybe I should do that :-D

Some time ago, looking to experiment with the new multi-site capability of private WordPress installs, I set aside a second URL, “fiction.radiofreeotomorrow.org“, and set up a second WP there. And then, promptly failed to do anything with it.

Until today, when I finally posted the first chapter of something that’s been sitting around in my Google Docs queue for ages and that I’d like to see if I can take somewhere. Given the track record of some past projects, I can’t make any real promises, but I’m going to try!

My social media use has become quite disarranged in recent months.

I no longer really use LiveJournal. I’ve never used Facebook very heavily. I do use G+ and Twitter quite a bit but those don’t seem to be the best venues to expound on certain kinds of thoughts — good places to link back to, but not good places for the content itself.

So…the question arises…now what?

I have this blog, of course, which I haven’t really done nearly as much with as I want to. It’s not exactly private, so some topics will not belong here, but there are plenty of things I used to rant about all the time that could go here, including, of course, the topics I originally started this blog for: various topics in science fiction and fantasy.

So…assuming anyone at all reads this, what sorts of things would you like to see me babble about?

Right, so, I restarted this blog, was doing OK for a while…and then fell off the blogging wagon again. There are several reasons, and at the risk of sounding like I’m making excuses, I’ll enumerate a few of them.

  1. I got stuck on the second Tom Baker Doctor Who recommendations article. Why? Because I’m trying to find a way to say, “Just watch everything from Face of Evil through The Talons of Weng Chiang and thank me later” without it sounding like I’m copping out. But really, that whole stretch is the absolute high of the classic series and it should just all be watched. So there, I’ve said it, and now, maybe, I can go back and finish up the article soon.
  2. Life. I’m in an odd headspace, professionally, and that always leaves me in a pretty blocked headspace, creatively. I’ve got lots I want to say and I can’t seem to put it all together in a coherent order, which frustrates me, which of course, only strengthens writers’ block.
  3. Honestly? I really do have dozens of things I want to write about and I’m not sure where to start! So sometime soon — maybe even later today — I’m just going to pick something and start writing about it.

So, that’s the short form. I am, of course, assuming enough of you actually care about what I’m nattering on about to care that I haven’t been nattering lately, but hey, it’s a blog, and the essence of blogging is having enough ego to believe someone’s reading!

Anyway, happy almost-Spring, and hopefully, regular service resumes shortly.

After a long hiatus, I’m about half-way through writing the next installment in the “Getting Started with Doctor Who” series. Stay tuned!

And so, it begins.

And what, exactly is it?

For a start, the name is a revival of an older, Slashdot-style weblog I ran for a short while focusing on fantasy and science fiction.

While that’s still the site’s focus, it will be more particularly focused, at least for the moment, on my own sometimes-informed opinions about the subject. This will largely take the form of reviews, but there will be other opinionated comment as well.
